How much does the Cliff Palace tour cost?

Do I need a reservation for Cliff Palace?
Yes, you must have a reservation to enter the dwelling. You can view the structure from overlooks without a reservation, but entry is by ranger-guided tour only. See Booking Guide for booking details.
How many stairs and ladders are at Cliff Palace?
You must climb four separate ladders during the tour. You will also navigate uneven stone steps and experience an elevation change of 100 feet (30 m).
How far is Cliff Palace from the park entrance?
It is approximately 20 miles from the entrance on US Highway 160. Because the road is steep and winding, the drive takes 45 to 75 minutes. See Drive Time Details for driving tips.
Can you see Cliff Palace without paying for a tour?
Yes. You can view it from the Cliff Palace Overlook or Sun Temple for free. You only need a ticket to walk inside the dwelling.
Is the Cliff Palace tour safe for young children?
Children must be able to climb the four ladders unassisted. Infants are allowed but must be placed in a hands-free carrier. Adults carrying them must maintain balance. See Visiting with Kids for details.
How long does the Cliff Palace tour take?
The ranger-guided tour lasts approximately 45 minutes. The total walking distance is 1/4 mile (0.4 km).
When do Cliff Palace tour tickets go on sale?
Reservations open 14 days in advance at 8:00 am MDT. You must book them via Recreation.gov.
Can I do Cliff Palace and Balcony House in one day?
Yes, but you need a separate reservation for each. You must leave at least two hours between your tour times to allow for transit. See Compare the Tours to compare the two.
Is there cell service at the Cliff Palace trailhead?
No, there is no cell service at the trailhead. You must print your reservation or download it to your phone before arriving.
What should I wear for the Cliff Palace tour?

What happens if I miss my tour time?
Late arrivals will forfeit their tour with no refunds. You must allow ample time to navigate the 20-mile park road before your scheduled tour.
